4. Toric varieties and fans (05.05.15).

Aim of the talk: Understand the connection between normal toric varieties (not necessarily affine) with fans and how geometric properties of the toric varieties translate into properties of the corresponding fans.

Details: Give the definition of a fan (see Def 3 in I,§2) and state Theorem 6 in I,§2. Discuss the examples [Cox, Example 2.1-2.3, Exercise 2.1]. Then explain the statements of the Theorems 7,8,9 in I, §2. (In particular give all the definitions which are needed to state Theorem 9.)
